The Central Travel Office continues its efforts to educate and inform UC travelers on the benefits of booking within the system-wide program.

EARTH MONTH “LUNCH FLYOVER” SESSIONS

This series will be short 15-20 minute sessions and is scheduled to start at 1210PM on the days listed.

The gift of ideas will be the valuable giveaways during these sessions.

April 1 — Earth Month Kickoff: The Central Travel Office will open the series with details on new a sustainability site and reporting on travel emissions data.

April 2 — Alaska Airlines: Learn how they have set a long-term goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 by pursuing a 5-part path to get there.

April 3 — Amtrak: Passenger rail is widely recognized to be the most sustainable and efficient modes of transportation, and Amtrak has a vision to do even better. We plan to double our ridership by 2040, while aiming to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2045 and implementing plans to be more resilience and adapt to climate impacts.

April 4 — Southwest Airlines will discuss the challenges and opportunities with decarbonizing aviation at an industry level, as well as provide a deeper look into Southwest’s own strategy and path to net-zero.

April 11 — UC Energy & Sustainability: Want to learn more about how UC is a leader in climate and sustainability efforts amongst higher education systems? Come chat with us while we walk through UC’s sustainability initiatives & achievements, details of our systemwide climate emissions, and the currents efforts made towards greening our transportation modes as a UC community.

April 16 — Hert Car Rentals will discuss its Electric Vehicle fleet and impact on meeting sustainability goals.

April 17 — United Airlines: description coming soon

April 18 — BCD Travel will share how they engage with its network of stakeholders across the company, suppliers and clients to inspire them to live, work and travel in a more sustainable way. 

April 23 — Marriott Hotels: Join a conversation with Marriott's sustainability leader to discuss what hotels are doing and what you can do to make an impact on your next trip.

April 24 — Enterprise/National Car Rentals: Information on Enterprise Mobility and how they are giving back to the communities will be shared.

April 25 — Advito: Breaking down the buzzwords-Debunking Common Sustainability Myths

April 29 — UC Procurement Supplier Diversity: description coming soon

April 30 — Earth Month Wrap-up: The Central Travel Office will close with highlights on lessons learned.
